Product description

1949 Charles and Ray Eames developed an innovative system of free-standing, multi-functional shelves and desks. As with the concurrently constructed Eames House, these designs were based on industrial production principles: the Eames Storage Unit (ESU) and the Eames Desk Unit (EDU).
In collaboration with Eames Office and Dutch designer Hella Jongerius, a carefully defined a new color scheme to give ESU and EDU a fresh and contemporary look while capturing the spirit of the 1940s and 1950s. The wider ESU shelf is available in various heights, from sideboard to high bookshelf. The ESU rack is slightly narrower; four levels of shelves correspond to the height of standard ring binders. Equipped with drawers and sliding doors, it provides plenty of storage space.
Materials:
- Metal surfaces: black powder-coated finish.
- Shelves: maple plywood with birch veneer, clear varnish finish.
- Panels: powder-coated aluminum.
- Legs: individual level adjustment.
ESU shelf
- Sliding doors: lacquered molded plywood
