Product description

What is a shelf supposed to be used for, if not for carrying? Books, objects, memories. This is exactly what Marcel Breuer designed the S44 for. The four height-adjustable shelves are supported by a pair of chrome-plated tubular steel bars, and their feet swing outwards thanks to wide legs. Simple and clear. First of all, their design is immediately understandable. The shelves can be adjusted to different heights using lockable shelf supports; an additional shelf in ash or oak veneer and top-varnished is optionally available, as well as chrome bookends.
What Marcel Breuer developed in 1932 for the House of Clarté in Geneva is a declaration of love for the things in life that surround us and here they find their place. With a width of 140 centimeters and a height of only 121 centimeters, the shelf is ideal for office spaces that do not want to be burdened with heavy partitions between rooms, but instead confidently incorporate light and air as design elements. A simple, well-thought-out look is a consequence of this thinking. The Bauhaus Archive in Berlin only approves faithfully reproduced and licensed reissues of original Bauhaus models. They are marked with the signet ring of Oskar Schlemmer, which he designed for the State Bauhaus in Weimar in 1922. Even today, Bauhaus Tecta models are based exactly on the proportions of the originals.
