Product description

The D1 armchair, his "red cube", was designed by Peter Keler in 1925 as a prototype at the Bauhaus State School in Weimar. The Kelera facility was intended for Farkas Molnar's single-family house "The Red Cube" and is a response to the then perceived color challenges in interior design. The original, upholstered in red leather, is in the permanent collection of the Cantilever Chair Museum / Tecta Archive in Lauenförde.
Frame: wooden frame with wheels
Upholstery: fabric or leather, removable cushion D1 chair, manufactured by Tecta according to the original designed by Peter Keler, was one of the most radical approaches of its time. Together with Tecta, Keler later developed a two- and three-seater sofa (D1-2, D1-3) based on the D1 armchair with a characteristic cubic shape. Both products embody the same architectural concept of cubic furniture. A concept that would later influence an entire generation of designers and inspired Le Corbusier to design the LC2 furniture.
