Product description

In 1931, Mies van der Rohe applied for a patent for a "multifunctional lounge furniture". It was supposed to be ergonomic and at the same time elegant, freely swinging and hanging, suitable for use both indoors and outdoors.
To this day, the F42E suspended lounger condenses the moment of floating in a piece of furniture resembling a flapping wing and spreads functionality and aesthetics and restraint indoors as a silhouette, while its counterpart, the adjustable F42E1, equipped with the same deflecting surface, refers to the swinging cantilever chair with its cantilever frame.
The sofas were designed by Mies van der Rohe for a villa complex in Krefeld. Known today as the Haus Lange and Haus Esters museums, which are located in the immediate vicinity of the Wilhelmshofer Allee in Krefeld, they were commissioned by the founders of the Vereinigte Seidenwebereien Hermann Lange and Josef Esters and were intended to serve as private residences for their families. The Bauhaus Archive in Berlin only approves original and licensed reissues of original Bauhaus models. They are marked with the signet ring of Oskar Schlemmer, which he designed for the State Bauhaus in Weimar in 1922. Even today, Bauhaus Tecta models are based exactly on the proportions of the originals.
