W MILLA – a cabinet designed for MEDULUM by the Milanese designer Filippo Protasoni – a simple ribbon of fabric made of natural fibers turns into a decoration and unravels its weave – at the same time clean and geometric, tactile and textured – along the front doors of the furniture, with their smooth black walnut surfaces. The delicate implementation re-proposes the weave understood in its original form, with the threads intersecting on the frame individually, by hand, with spaces that gradually fill up until they become surfaces, the textural contrast in the dialogue between fabric and wood is emphasized by slender support points made of brass: structural elements with elegant and refined linearity emerge shining as they reflect sparks of light. Like high heels in a dress.
The combination of two giants of Italian know-how creates an unexpected and surprising dialogue. A piece of furniture that combines the deep fabric culture of the Italian fashion industry with the extensive production knowledge that distinguishes the furniture industry.
Like the skillfully woven thread of a tailored garment, in MILLA the Strap fabric is at the center of the design: it defines its spaces and interprets them , becoming a narrative voice. An idea takes shape and becomes architecture; it's not just a fabric, but rather a thought.
