Product description
Gaulinetta is an evolution of the Gaulino chair.
«This time it has no armrests and is slightly smaller. A reasonable conclusion would be that the comfort of the original has been lost, but surprisingly it's just as comfortable. This is the perfect chair for dining and after meals because it can be hidden under the table. In homage to Enzo Mari, who named Tonietta, a derivative of Thonet, I named this chair Gaulinetta, after the surname Gaulino». (Oscar Tusquets)
The Gaulino chair was designed in 1987. BD re-edited and improved it in 2010. This is probably one of Oscar Tusquets' best projects. Although its appearance is entirely artisanal, it was his first true industrial wooden design, which included sizing the machines to make leg-sculpting bends.
The result is an image of a hand-carved, slim sculpture. Some critics tried to see in it admiration for the author Salvador Dalí, but when Tusquets saw it completed, he thought that there were visible influences of Antoni Gaudí, the most universal Catalan architect, and Carlo Mollino, the great Italian designer of the 1950s. That's why he named this chair "Gaulino".
