sofa system designed for the National Museum.
The National Museum, which originally opened in Stockholm in 1866, reopened in 2018 after a five-year renovation. Klenell was entrusted with overall responsibility for the interior of the museum's new restaurant. When it came time to develop a flexible sofa for the interior of the restaurant, Klenell decided to cooperate with Offecct - the result was the font.
"The font is based on a simple form with a round backrest, which gives the furniture a graphic expression and character, as well as inspired the name. The challenge was to achieve the right height and softness, as well as a structure that would allow the font to be used in a context outside the museum," explains Matti Klenell.
Font is a sofa system that can be fitted into various public spaces far beyond the walls of the museum and is also the first commercial collaboration between Klenell and Offecct.
Offecct also produced several custom-made pieces of furniture in collaboration with designer Matti Klenell.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Base in wood and metal. Seat and backrest made of cold foam wrapped in fire-resistant fiber. Upholstered in fabric or leather. Standard Elmo Nordic leather. There are additional seams when choosing leather. Frame made of lacquered metal in gray RAL 7022. Chrome legs with black ABS caps.
OPTIONAL
Frame in black, silver or white alternative paint in OFFECCT Flexicolor. Adjustable black ABS foot.
ACCESSORIES
Table: Table top in gray Valchromat® lacquer, Ø300 mm. Frame made of varnished metal, gray RAL 7022. Height from the floor 660 mm. Height above the seat 190 mm. The table is mounted between a suitable seat, maximum 2 tables/sofa.
