The Augusto sofa by Belgian designer Vincent Van Duysen is an exploration of contrasts: where the past meets the present, and technical innovations meet the expert craftsmanship of Molteni&C.
The key to Augusto's timeless aesthetic is the balance of soft, upholstered seats with the sophistication of a modern metal structure, creating an exceptionally harmonious design that blends seamlessly into many environments. To emphasize Augusto's unique silhouette, elegant piping runs along the cushions, defining their shape.
When designing the Augusto sofa, Van Duysen started with the idea of total comfort. He carefully studied how the body sinks into the spacious seat, leans back into the padded backrest, or simply rests on the elegant square armrests. Only after determining these factors did it begin to form a shape that includes a flat metal base running around the perimeter of the sofa, emphasizing its volume and giving it an almost weightless appearance.
Augusto is new compared to previous Molteni&C collections: it is in fact a non-modular sofa, available in two depths - 100 cm and 116 cm and four configurations - 185, 205, 235, 270 cm - plus a 150 cm deep element, offering maximum flexibility and versatility to adapt to any living space. The deeper element creates a seat resembling a chaise longue.
The frame is made of solid wood, and the padding is made of high-bearing polyurethane foam with variable density, ensuring maximum comfort. The seat cushions are made of recycled and recyclable PET polyester fiber. The painted aluminum base stands on the ground thanks to aluminum feet with non-slip tips. The seats offer the ultimate in softness.
Augusto is available in all Molteni&C textile and leather colors and can be decorated with four different piping options – anthracite, dark brown, olive green and paper white – allowing you to customize the sofa's aesthetic.
