Product description

ASTERIAS, a cactus growing in the mountainous regions of Mexico, owes its name to a new project by Patricia Urquiola. A spacious round table with a central base resembling a cactus, from which it takes its name. It consists of six curved, wedge-shaped, superimposed wooden panels projecting above a central plinth. The panels are 3D printed. The tabletop (160 or 180 cm) has a rounded edge divided in the wooden version into four wedges that create an interesting geometric pattern. The table can also be equipped with a practical accessory: a central Lazy Susan turntable, very popular in Asian countries.
TECHNICAL INFORMATION
- Wooden base: Internal metal structure with cement counterweights. External block made of bent, formed multi-layer beech wood (Fagus sylvatica) panels, veneered with wood.
- Cement mortar base: Internal metal structure with cement counterweights. External block made of molded structural polyurethane with a hand-applied cement composite finish.
- Top: Medium density fiberboard, veneered or hand finished with cement composite.
- Lazy Susan: Made of bent aluminum sheet, veneered with wood. Fittings for the rotating mechanism made of various materials.

Wood: eucalyptus, gray oak, graphite oak.
Cement grout: Special colors: black or gray.
