The Porta Volta chair by Herzog & de Meuron opens a new chapter of cooperation between Molteni&C and the renowned international architectural company and long-term partners of the Molteni Group. A special edition Porta Volta chair will be presented in the main reading room of the National Library of Israel in Jerusalem. Molteni&C's sister brand, Unifor, is collaborating on this exciting project, managing the refurbishment of the reading room, including all shelving and built-in furniture, to ensure that the interior elements work harmoniously.
The Porta Volta chair is an impressive piece of art. The defining element of the design is the solid wood back, which is curved in a U-shape, creating an inviting and enveloping appearance. The floating backrest extends further to form armrests. If necessary, the backrest can be divided in half using an adjustable cushion. Three U-shaped frames with a unique curved "toe joint" add a detailed softness to the overall design. The four legs and backrest are slightly tilted outwards, which ensures stable and comfortable rest.
This element is highly adaptable to a number of preferences and interior design needs. Each solid wood – American walnut, black oak, emergent oak, charcoal oak or eucalyptus – has been specially selected for longevity and durability. The upholstered seating has been carefully considered to provide exceptional comfort with a wide range of fabrics including leather and a special selection of mohair velvet. The cushion is available in one of four custom colors: sunflower yellow, royal blue, daisy pink or silver gray.
For even more comfort and a personal touch, the Porta Volta chair offers optional backrest padding. The rectangular-shaped padding provides additional customization with a wide range of fabrics and leathers.
The chair is available in two sizes for functional and practical reasons. A taller chair with a height of 71 cm works well in the dining room, while a low chair with a height of 66 cm is intended for a living room or living room. Designed to match the sofa, the low chair makes a harmonious addition to your living space.
The Porta Volta chair is both elegant and relaxed thanks to the exceptional attention to detail and high-quality materials from Herzog & de Meuron, which adds a refined touch for the living room, dining room or work space.
