timeless style that has written its own chapter in the history of design, becoming a world-famous icon. Designed to facilitate conversation, the armchair was exhibited at the Salon d'Automne [Salon d'Automne] in Paris in 1929 as an archetype of a modern furnishing concept, interpreted by its authors as "household appliances". The separation of the metal structure from the cushions is consistent with the principles of rationalism, just as the separation of parts is based on an industrial approach to production, reminiscent of the architectural relationship between the supporting structure and the filling elements. These models are also available in an ecological version that remains faithful to the original design. Thanks to research carried out by Cassina LAB, a partnership between the Cassina Research and Development Center and the Poli.design consortium of the Politecnico di Milano, the foam-filled parts, cushion padding and tubular structure were manufactured with sustainable materials and processes. Cassina designs complete, comfortable and inviting living spaces where the most innovative products of contemporary design coexist with icons of the great masters of the modern movement.
