Product description

The x+l 04 floor lamp is part of a collection of objects designed by Amsterdam-based designer duo Xander Vervoort and Leon van Boxtel to recycle the small blocks of wood that arise as residual waste in our furniture production process. The wooden base of the lamp is made of reclaimed teak blocks. Each block is shaped, bent and polished by hand before assembly, making it a labor-intensive and skill-intensive process. The lampshade is made with an outer lining of hand spun raw silk and an inner lining of fine cotton fabric.
Finishes:
Wood Finish - We offer this product in a choice of Natural Teak, Dark Stain or Black Finish. For the Natural Teak finish, the wood is sanded smooth and a soft cloth is applied with a clear polishing compound and sealer to bring out the natural golden brown color of the teak. With Dark Stain, a layer of teak stain is hand-applied to give the wood a darker, deeper shade. In the case of the Black Finish finish, the wood is sprayed with an ecological water-based paint that leaves visible grain and patterns. The x + l collection includes objects designed by the Dutch designer duo Xander Vervoort and Leon van Boxtel. The objects in this collection are inspired by x+l's interest in art and architecture, as well as their deep appreciation for simple, honest materials and structures. If the legs of the coffee table are an homage to Le Corbusier, the idea for the upholstered modular sofa evolved from an interaction with textile manufacturer Ravi Khemka of Zanav Home. Recycling and zero waste are the main concepts in the design of some objects from this collection.
