Young Hungarian designer Zsuzsanna Horvath created the Illan hanging lamp, a product presented last year as a prototype at Salone Satellite. Luceplan, always on the lookout for new talents in the world of design, immediately understood the potential of Zsuzsanna Horvath's very poetic, direct approach.
Technological innovation and material research are fundamental factors of the company's method, and in fact Illan aptly captures the essence of a comprehensive experiment, interpreted in terms technology and expressive impact. Illan's extraordinary decorative value and its emotional reach expressed through the intelligent and original use of materials make it a truly unique lamp.
In Hungarian, the term illan means something temporary and fleeting, the beauty of which, according to Zsuzsanna Horvath, should be grasped immediately, not allowing ourselves to be distracted by the frenetic pace of everyday life - like a scent that fades over time or a sensation that needs to be captured before it disappears.
The Illan lamp has an ethereal, vibrant design subjected to undulating air movement, a constant change that gives shape and forms luminous volume. It consists of a very light body made of extremely thin, flexible plywood, laser cut along closely packed, equidistant lines and suspended from the ceiling.
The lamp, available in many sizes up to a diameter of one meter, acquires its volume thanks to the force of gravity and takes on a characteristic a form floating in the air. The suspension and drivetrain are unobtrusive, contributing to overall lightness. The warm LED light source is placed inside the body, in the upper part, to generate a very comfortable, relaxing, diffused light.
