Designed by Gio Ponti in 1940, the Ponti 940 is a beech chair with a seat upholstered in leather, artificial leather or fabric.
The Ponti 940 expresses the new modernist tensions of the era: in the 1930s, the author's style was still strongly influenced by classicism, but Ponti 940, the last version of the model presented already in 1933, represents a step forward: flared legs and rounded backrest and seat evoke classic harmonies, embodied in simple, essential lines that do not compromise on decoration.
The Ponti 940 has been part of the BBB Icon Chairs collection since 2015, recognized as a timeless icon of Italian design, and has original, refurbished finishes.
The distinguishing feature is the rear groove on the structure, which gives the legs a unique contact with the the ground, narrowing upwards towards the backrest. Classic elegance and modern essentials.
