Product description

Fontal is an armchair whose structure is made of peeled and dyed natural rattan with a diameter of 32 mm. Finished with a three-stage coating (dye, base layer and top layer) characterized by high resistance to solar radiation thanks to UV filters. Seat and backrest made of peeled and dyed natural rattan, 8 mm in diameter. Protective covers with removable plastic and felt inserts. Optional pillow.
“This project was born from the desire to recover rattan as a noble material and restore the rich craftsmanship tradition of our country. I tried to give a new look to an ancient technique, replacing the locks and ties traditionally used as connecting elements, by connecting one cane to another. Thanks to this innovative solution, we obtained a strong, flexible and light structure. According to its creator, "the project was born from the desire to recover rattan as a noble material, based on the rich tradition of craftsmanship in our country. To this end, I tried to give this century-old technique a new look, replacing the traditional struts and wrapping joints with a twinning technique that allowed one reed to be joined to another. With this innovative resource, I created a flexible yet durable structure that is so lightweight. The chair is light, warm, charming and luxurious in the true sense of the word.
