Product description
Design Hommage À Pierre Jeanneret
Inscribed on the UNESCO Cultural Heritage List in 2016, the extraordinary architecture of Le Corbusier's Capitol complex, designed by Chandigarh in 1951, has received awards for celebrating an independent nation open to modernity. The Haute Cour along with the Secretariat and Assembly wing form the core of the Capitol complex in Chandigarh. The rooms were filled with upholstered armchairs, and all had the same V-shaped support structure motif. The only exposed wooden elements are the backrests, connecting crossbars and the external connections of the arms to the backrest. The padding of the armrests almost completely surrounds them, creating a rounded, geometric shape which, together with the clear cushioning of the seat and backrest, gives an immediate sense of comfort, without sacrificing elegance and simplicity. The Cassina re-edition offers a classic teak version and two versions in natural and stained black oak.
The padding surrounding the armrests and the generous seat and back cushions convey the idea of immediate comfort, as well as elegance and simplicity. The inverted V-shaped supports connecting the crossbars and the external joints between the armrests and the backrest are made of exposed wood. In the classic version, made of teak or oak wood.
LINING Variable density polyurethane foam.
STRUCTURE Solid oak or Burmese teak.
DETAILS V-shaped supports.
