Cutter is the new chair by Mario Bellini with a strong and decisive aesthetic that creates a new type of seating. The back of the chair is cut with a slit paying tribute to the great artist Lucio Fontana. While this is obvious, the nature of the Cutter is not just an aesthetic choice, but generates a type of seating that has never been seen before. The ends of the double backrest are functional and comfortable in the frontal position, they move independently and allow for a side position. This gesture is appropriate for talking to someone sitting nearby. It has also been designed to provide high seating comfort and freedom of movement, allowing the user to lean to one side with the arm placed on the backrest. The seat frame is made of metal and tape, softened with classic polyurethane upholstery. To guarantee the flexibility and durability of the double backrest, the B&B Italia Research and Development Center opted for a refined harmonic steel core. The upholstery and cover completely surround the chair with thick grain leather, creating the perfect synthesis of softness and severity, highlighted by saddle stitching. A central slit reveals an interior of refined black saffiano-thick leather, as if Cutter's soul peeks out from this dramatic opening.
