masterpiece of modern furniture design, the Domus chair was created as part of a series of furniture for the Domus Academica dormitory complex in Helsinki. Comfortable enough to allow for long periods of sitting, the Domus chair achieved great success internationally, becoming known as the "Finn Chair". The characteristic short arms mean that the Domus chair can be pulled close to the table, ideal for desk studying and dining, while providing the necessary support and comfort. Designed in 1946 by Ilmari Tapiovaara, Domus chairs have since been placed in homes and public spaces around the world.
Frame: Solid birch or solid oak
Seat and back: embossed birch veneer
Seat and backrest surface: birch veneer or oak veneer
The Domus chair is available with or without upholstery:
Fabric upholstery with PU foam padding
Leather upholstery with PU foam padding
