Featuring the signature Domus armrests and a seat and backrest made from a single piece of plywood, the Domus Lounge Chair is incredibly comfortable. In 1946, designer Ilmari Tapiovaara and his wife Annikki were commissioned to design the interiors of the Domus Academica student housing complex in Helsinki. Convinced that functionalism would promote social equality, Tapiovaara created the Domus Lounge Chair as part of a series of student furniture. Over time, the popularity of the Domus Lounge Chair has expanded far beyond its original intended use.
