Yabu Pushelberg's Naviglio collection consists of curved, linear chaise longue and ottoman elements that together express a visual dialogue between structure and form. Synthesis is the essence of the project and starts with its name. Watercourses are places of meetings and gatherings, a synthesis of trade and recreation, human intervention and contact with nature. This was the starting point for designers George Yabu and Glenn Pushelberg for their first collaboration with B&B Italia. In the vision of Canadian designers, the base of the seat is a river bed, which defines the space for the backrest/armrest, which is winding like a watercourse. Yabu Pushelberg's project builds a relationship between organic forms and B&B Italia's forming technologies, creating a coherent and unambiguous whole. As a piece of the puzzle, the B&B Italia team ergonomically designed each shape to create a single coherent whole. The backrest section and seat shapes reveal a delicate balance between polygons and curved shapes, where geometry becomes softness and rigor meets comfort. The backrest is circular in shape, but is actually an irregular polygon with rounded edges - a detail both eerie and calming. The upholstery of individual elements is made of polyurethane of varying density, which hugs the body and provides the most appropriate support. The choice was dictated by the nature of the object - the sofa was designed without seat cushions. The Naviglio upholstery range includes leather and fabrics, including the new bouclé with a solid base and multi-colored flames that evoke the dynamics of action paint and impressionistic color combinations. A subtle pictorial play of light and shadow that adds five varieties of new fabric to the collection, in which the colors white, gray, black and tortora interact. The back surface of the backrest has a continuous tone-on-tone or contrasting profile, creating a linear element that further emphasizes the continuity of the shape. The range is complemented by the Naviglio service table designed by the Yabu Pushelberg studio, equipped with a transparent glass top that can be placed close to the seat. The slender vertical axis of bronzed nickel is supported by a base of polished marble, with a shape inspired by river stone.
