The Palinfrasca sofa, with its instantly recognizable, iconic shape, pays homage to the 1994 work by Luca Meda from which it draws its inspiration, interpreting the essence of teak not only in an unprecedented and contemporary way, but also in the most exhaustive representation of Molteni&C savoir-faire and research on materials: knowledge acquired over almost ninety years of the company's existence, founded in 1934.
The Landmark collection presents a modular system made of solid teak, characterized by curved, soft, angular lines that give an intense feeling of comfort. The system consists of many elements that can be placed next to each other, always creating different configurations, they can be moved as needed and reassembled.
The seats are rich in refined construction details, such as a profile cut into the connection of the end post of the structure with the back of the sofa , which serves as a convenient shelf for small items. The solid wood post itself has a soft, rounded profile and a double curve at the corners that give the material a "soft" appearance.
The gentle curves of the supporting frame combined with the silky smoothness of the wood conjure up an overall image of softness.
Another characteristic An element of the Landmark collection is the "weaving" of a thin backrest tape, which resembles the weaving of natural materials in accordance with the Mediterranean tradition. Painted metal rods in a polished color feature a warp and weft motif, which on a macro scale gives an original and contemporary aesthetic. The backrest weave is available in teak or olive EVA, a flexible but non-deformable plastic with a leather-like appearance and salt or weather resistance, suitable for outdoor furniture.
The sofa cushions are large, giving an idea about the abundance, softness and richness of materials. Variable density molded polyurethane seat cushion provides maximum support and realistic comfort. The upholstery is made of an external fabric that wicks away moisture and is resistant to weather conditions. The covers are easy to remove, despite their large dimensions.
