AVA is a rectangular wooden table suitable for the most contemporary interiors.
Foster + Partners and Molteni have a long and fruitful collaboration that began with the design of the Still sofa in 2006. In practice, a whole range of office furniture called "Elements" was also designed for UniFor, Molteni's sister company. Ava follows a natural progression from the earlier design of the UniFor Elements metal conference table to the creation of a wooden dining table.
The new design explores the warmth and feel of wood and the economy of material to create a sustainable modular piece of furniture that is suitable for both domestic and domestic interiors. and commercial.
In line with its policy of designing environmentally friendly buildings and furniture, Foster + Partners has developed a set of tables for contemporary interiors. Made entirely of wood, a natural material in the truest sense of the word, the Ava table responds to the ever-growing demand for designer furniture to meet sustainability requirements, without sacrificing the need to represent the space that each piece of furniture deserves.
Inspired by the lightweight forms of aircraft wings and bridges, it consists of two basic segments - the central part and the cantilevered end - which can be connected to create a single table of any length. The table's bridge-like structure is a highly sculptural object with minimal detail and a high-quality finish. The joints between the two sections are highlighted by a shaded gap that references architectural traditions.
The geometry allows the end sections to extend up to one meter on each side, while maintaining stability and rigidity. The entire table is made of wood, except for the fasteners, and the carved legs taper from the wider part at the top, providing support for a thin line towards the floor. The table is available in walnut and eucalyptus finishes, and ready-made versions are available in three standard sizes - 2.9, 3.4 and 3.8 meters.
