IP-66Moai is made of reinforced concrete, which makes it suitable for both commercial and residential projects. However, his work is not so much about the choice of material, but rather about the form that Gonzalo gives it and how light plays with and penetrates this form. From the back, the lamp appears straight and hard, while the front lines are softer.
Moai is equipped with a dimmable LED source that casts light downwards. An optical lens is added to the LED to act as a magnifying glass; in turn generating a cone of light projecting laterally.
And there is an interesting surprise: the entire concavity of Moai appears illuminated, leaving no corner in darkness.
"The outer poles illuminate the ground or the site itself, but without playing with the shape" – explains Gonzalo.
