ABYSS is a true immersion in a Venetian canal. By touching the metal base, you can see the scene with different light intensity, variables such as weather and sun in the historic lagoon town. So when the light reaches the aquamarine resin, we feel the thrill of the sun's ray filtering through the waters of the Lagoon, capturing the underwater air bubbles that return the wood to its original place. The piece of wood is a real fragment of Bricoli, i.e. the famous wooden poles planted at the bottom of the Lagoon. The result is an immersed cross-section of this extraordinary underwater world. In line with Alcarola's concept of environmental cross-section, elements of the Bricola collection are reused and give new life to oak pillars recovered from the Venetian Lagoon. Over the years spent in the canals, these poles are subjected to the constant work of lagoon mollusks and atmospheric agents, which carve and carve the wood, making each piece unique.
Thanks to the patented and developed resin process, Alcarol keeps the natural wood intact and the peculiar live edges, filling gaps and capturing underwater air bubbles, restoring the wood to its original appearance and condition. At the same time, the natural wood surface on the cross-sectional planes is not covered with resin to provide different touch and visual sensations and give them the basic characteristics: warmth and matte porosity of natural wood, elegance and suggestive transparency of the resin.
