Product description

The opposition of light and dark, sun and moon is eternal, as part of the same stream of existence. The necessary relationship between two elements, each of which exists as a consequence of the other, has been given many allegorical meanings. The new Alchemie T lamp, designed by Giulia Archimede for Catellani & Smith, explores this dimension whose elements are diametrically opposite, but always and forever connected. Alchemie T is an exquisite sculpture composed of two discs: the first, made of alabaster and illuminated by LEDs, remains stationary, while the second, made of brass, glides on the track base made of Medea limestone with only a light touch of the hand. The interaction of light and shadow reaches its peak when the two disks overlap, almost mimicking an eclipse.
