The metaphor was born in the thriving creative climate of the early 1980s, when Gae Aulenti took over as artistic director of FontanaArte and decided to bring glass back to the forefront of the company's production. At the invitation of Aulenti, Umberto Riva designed a precious table lamp consisting of a conical lampshade made of laminated opal glass supported by a transparent glass base that covers a metal frame, and the whole is interlocked. A highly decorative object, produced using traditional techniques such as glass blowing and other examples of craftsmanship know-how, offered today to customers increasingly paying attention to the originality of the design and its timeless expression.

The lampshade is made of colored glass paste with frosted and blown glass. Transparent power cable, dimmer and plug. European two-pole plug. The set does not include a light bulb.
