Product description

Both a table lamp and an art object, MATRIX is the result of the basic design of the duo Oskar Peet and Sophie Mensen, renowned designers of the latest generation and founders of Studio OS Δ OOS based in Eindhoven. When referring to the term matrix, we generally mean a square matrix commonly used in mathematics, i.e. a combination of rows and columns. A third dimension is added by introducing a circle surrounding the matrix like a ring. The designed object becomes a lamp thanks to the light ball placed internally and centrally in relation to the matrix, which emits soft and diffused light in all directions. The grid structure plays with the simple and clean shape of the illuminated sphere. Matrix components create transparencies and cast unusual geometric shadows on surrounding surfaces when viewed from different perspectives. The Matrix project began as a system that allowed for an infinite number of configurations. The basic concept comes from architectural structures and multifunctional solutions, i.e. from the concept of form fulfilling function.
