Valaida Snow was an accomplished trumpet player and singer of the 1930s, arguably a pioneering trumpet player, in addition to being an accomplished singer and renowned arranger. Born on June 2, 1905 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, she was known as the "Queen of Trumpet and Song", "Woman Louis Armstrong", "Little Louis" and "Lady Louis". A talented and unique vocalist, an exciting vocalist, an attractive, excellent dancer and irresistible performer, popular for her hypnotic scatting and unique charisma. This lamp is a tribute to Valaida's work and career of all the hard-working women who took up men's work, illuminating the light of art, imagination and creativity.
