The success story of Heinrich Wilke GmbH begins in 1929, when Heinrich Wilke entered the Waldecker company in the commercial register under the short name HEWI: HEWI marks the first letters of his surnames. HEWI produces useful polyamide products, from grain bonding devices, coin plates, buttons and finger plates to the first nylon handle, making it one of the first plastic processing companies in Germany.
< / br> In 1968 the polyamide 111 handle was developed, thanks to which HEWI made a breakthrough. He has become a classic. Together with the products for cloakrooms, handrails and balustrades as well as sanitary products, an assortment was created in which the concept of the system was first taken up. In the following years, HEWI achieved cult status. Thanks to a clear, consistent design and quality, the HEWI brand is able to establish itself worldwide.

As early as 1979, HEWI developed the first interior products for the elderly and people with reduced mobility. In collaboration with architects and users, HEWI has developed further functional and design-oriented products and has become a topic and market leader in the area of accessibility. The products offer not only perfect aesthetics, but also unlimited functions. For HEWI, universal design means creating products that can be used intuitively by anyone, regardless of their physical and mental abilities ”. Another milestone was set in 2001. A variety of materials such as chrome, stainless steel, polyamide, as well as a variety of design and functional options have created design opportunities.

Today, this family-owned company employs approximately 600 employees worldwide. HEWI's production site, which has grown to 46,000 m², is located in Mengeringhausen in northern Hesse. The company administration is located in the neighboring town of Bad Arolsen.

Thanks to the network of the hardware and sanitary departments of HEWI, it meets the growing market requirements and offers universal system solutions from a single source. The systems and programs are formally coordinated with each other, thanks to which they enable a coherent, coherent design - from office or commercial buildings to hotels and private homes.
