Inspired by EGO.M

With strong determination, EGO.M positions itself in the global Made in Italy design scenario. Thanks to the talent of its craftsmen and the strengthening of the know-how of its partners, EGO.M gives life to a brand that wants to be the pure essence of design. Despite the historic Covid-19 period, arguably the most difficult of the last fifty years, the EGO.M team is always driven by a witty curiosity that always strives for creative moments. As a design studio, EGO.M strives to constantly search for essence. In addition to insightful ideas, the team looks for details and consistency with reality, achieved through unconventional choices and solutions.

Values of Ego.M Design, Culture, Talent, Courage, Elegance, Personality, Innovation. Research and use of innovative materials and advanced manufacturing techniques. The style is clean and at the same time strict and decisive. Particular attention is paid to the environment. In corporate partnerships, EGO.M becomes available to enhance the project's distinctive features, becoming a research, production and communication tool that strengthens the B2B partner's brand spirit. Continuous and meticulous search for young talents who believe in responsible behavior, environmental sustainability, quality and economy tailored to human beings, all combined in the field of DESIGN, HOME and FASHION. The design combines revolutionary ideas, innovative materials and advanced production techniques. Objects simple, discreet and dense in content that do not impose themselves, but make themselves felt correctly when speaking of project research, thus giving the appropriate TIME value.

Innovative materials Ego.M Plexiglas is a plastic (or methyl methacrylate resin), which, due to its transparency, colorlessness and low brittleness, replace glass in various applications. The main properties of plexiglass are high transparency, good mechanical strength, excellent resistance to external conditions and aging, exceptional resistance to light and weather conditions, and finally great appearance. Mechanical strength, stiffness and hardness are among the highest in the field of thermoplastics. Graphene is a material obtained in laboratories from the exfoliation of graphite and consists of a monatomic carbon layer organized according to a crystal structure with hexagonal cells. Due to its very small thickness of 0.3 nanometers, it can be described as a two-dimensional material. It has the theoretical strength of a diamond and the flexibility of plastic. Flexible, thin, durable, transparent, waterproof and durable, graphene is the material of the new millennium, whose ancient roots (graphite) are invading our daily lives (pencil). Graphene with a thickness of only one atom is today the thinnest and most attractive material in the world.

Ego.M and production techniques Plexiglass layers can be cut, milled, drilled, turned, sanded, polished, engraved, glued, printed, wound, bent and deep embossed. Cutting with laser technology allows to obtain different thicknesses of methacrylate and obtain the formats required by the project. Obtaining a methacrylate curve requires manual and precise processing. The use of a conductive cylinder as a source of high temperature allows to achieve the ideal temperature for bending the plexiglass sheet. The necessary folds are made according to the design, the processed piece is blocked with sinkers until the methacrylate has completely cooled down. Plexiglass has a hardness similar to that of light materials (aluminum, brass, etc.), therefore care should be taken that incorrect heating of the layer does not cause cracks or ice phenomena. In additive manufacturing, starting with empty space, the machine applies the material only where it is needed, layer by layer, until the entire design part is made. Finding the right materials is essential for this type of treatment. Innovative and, above all, biodegradable plastic polymers are used for 3D printing. In fused deposition printing (FDM), polymers are produced in the form of fibers. PLA (polylactic acid) filament is biodegradable under certain conditions. Depending on the environment in which it is discarded, it has an average service life of 1 to 4 years, compared to +100 of commonly used plastics. It also has excellent mechanical properties and chemical resistance under normal conditions.
