INSPIRED BY OLUCE

In 1945 in Milan, on his way to economic recovery, Giuseppe Ostuni founded Oluce, the oldest Italian lighting company that is still fully operational. Since her birth, Oluce has studied, harmonized and combined design, technology and aesthetics to create items that, beyond fashion, passions, trends and tastes, have become enduring symbols and icons of interior design. Just six years after its founding, Oluce successfully participated in the 9th Triennial, proudly presenting the Luminator designed by Franco Buzzi. Its success was confirmed by Domus, who, thanks to its wide circulation beyond the Alps, made the brand internationally recognized and famous.
At the Compasso d'Oro in 1955, designer Tito Agnoli, with whom the brand had already collaborated and whose famous frame bore his name, received awards for two Oluce lamps. The "Agnoli" floor lamp 255/387 is slim and slender, but also extremely functional in a home context. In addition to Agnola, Oluce has also collaborated with other great design brands including Forti, Arnaboldi, Monti and Minale.

Oluce lamps, which went down in the history of design, Oluce owes its true revolution to Joe and Gianni Colombo. continued with Joe after his brother Gianni decided to devote himself to pure art. From the pencil of these design geniuses came the 281, a revolutionary table lamp christened Acrilica. In this innovative setting, which won the gold medal at the 13th Triennial, it seems that the light is rising. In the same year, the Triennial also awarded Joe Colombo two silver medals for other products, making him one of the greatest designers of his time.
It was the beginning of the 1960s. Oluce seemed to have not stopped in his visionary race to a highly technological future. Marco Zanuso designed the 275, which features a large, easily adjustable white plexiglass diffuser. The first waterproof outdoor lamps were - again - from Joe Colombo, who designed the Fresnel, the lampshades of which are attached to large steel clips. The first Compasso d'Oro was awarded in 1967 to Spider, a single lighting body that can be mounted anywhere thanks to a special melamine connection that can be adapted to different supports. The Spider, available in different versions, inaugurated the concept of the collection. In 1967, Joe Colombo designed the Coupé, a lamp that continues to hold an honorable place in New York's MoMA. Thanks to its elegant, distinctive head and unique shape, the luminaire won the International Design Award from the American Institute of Interior Designers in Chicago.

Vico Magistretti and the Atollo lamp In 1970, Joe Colombo was also responsible for the birth of the first halogen lamp of aptly named "Colombo". In the 1970s, Giuseppe Ostuni handed over the property to the Verderi family, which continued the necessary and lasting cooperation with the design master Vico Magistretti, who created many lamps that remain forever in the history of lighting design: Kuta, Lester, Nara, Idomeneo, Pascal, Dim, Sonora , Snow, but most of all Atollo, the undisputed icon of Oluce, known all over the world - imitated but unique, exhibited in the most famous museums, winner of the Compasso d'Oro 1979.
through numerous successes, thanks to the unique collaboration with important names that they designed creations that make history. Among them were the English Sebastian Bergne, Italians Laudani & amp; Romanelli, brothers Fernando and Humberto Campana and Toni Cordero. The new millennium has opened its doors to even more in-depth research into the geometry of the form as well as noble materials and finishes. New international figures have joined Oluce: Nendo and Toshiyuki Kita, Gordon Guillaumier and Carlo Colombo and Lutz Pankow, Francesco Rota and Ferdi Giardini, Sam Hecht and Jörg Boner from Angeletti Ruzza, Nicola Gallizia, Victor Vasilev and Christophe Pillet.
