Created in 1976 from turned aluminum, it was already 100 cm tall. In 1990, they were offered in a blown etched glass version, and in 2003 in a methacrylate version. Three years later, the latter variant measured 133 cm, a demonstration of unique technology. Sonora, clumsily imitated all over the world, is certainly one of the most popular lamps designed by Magistretti, who saw in it the ability to illuminate and, especially, characterize the entire environment: a kind of volume contained in another volume, which is the room.
