The House Bench allows you to bind and arrange logs and branches into an orderly pile, so you can sit on the bench and watch the slow decay process. Old trees are essential for maintaining biodiversity because they are home to many rare species of insects, fungi, lichens, mosses and plants. Many birds and bats need empty trees to nest and breed, and birds also need places to rest.
Urban parks and green spaces represent important types of nature, and Vestre is exploring how we can achieve greater biodiversity in urban areas thanks to intelligent furniture, design and vegetation. That's why Vestre Habitats is born. One million species of animals, plants and fungi are currently at risk of extinction. Biodiversity is important for all life on Earth because it contributes to stable ecosystems. Natural diversity can be preserved with greater knowledge and protection. We want to work on increasing knowledge and awareness, and reverse this negative trend with our contribution: functional and well-thought-out furniture that protects natural processes such as decomposition. An apparently dead log can hide a full universe of microscopic species and habitats.
