The tea trolley was inspired by the British tea culture that Aino and Alvar Aalto became familiar with during their many travels, as well as the Japanese woodwork and architecture that they admired. The striking Tea Trolley 900, featuring ceramic tiles and a rattan basket, was first presented internationally at the 1937 World Exhibition in Paris, as a traditionally functional piece of furniture decorated with modest references to multiculturalism.
