distinctive way of affirming its modernity, Gebrüder Thonet Vienna took its archetypes, bent wood and woven cane, to design NYNY, a piece of furniture with a strong emotional dimension that can impose itself in a space as an absolute hero of the scene.
Thanks to its versatile personality, this multi-faceted the Storagemilano project expresses the interdependence of design, architecture and art, which draws inspiration from both typical postmodern styles and the graphic fun of the 80s, while creating an irregular development of perspective highlighted with intense color scheme.
The reference to architecture is also reflected in the name NYNY as New York, New York.
The play of volumes of the NYNY is, in fact, an homage to the New Museum of Contemporary Art in Nolita, whose building expresses the archetypal forms of the Babylonian ziggurat.
With its totemic spirit, the NYNY defines itself through the asymmetric superposition of geometric volumes suspended on a metal structure mounted on the wall. Each volume corresponds to a specific function: below it are two drawers, one high and one low; above, two chambers with doors. The lower one can also be used as a desk.
NYNY is a family of storage cabinets, all characterized by the strength of the creative language typical of Storagemilano, a balanced meeting of the designer's creativity and the design language of the architect.
