The Japanese influence on the design of this geometric container is immediately visible. Like the Haori, a traditional Japanese jacket worn with a kimono, the Hayama features the same formal cut that plays with volume and subtraction. A characteristic element of this simple and elegant sideboard are the legs slanting towards the main structure. Seemingly minimalist, its solid form is emphasized by thinner edges that brighten its appearance. Perfect for the living room and dining room, Hayama has two doors and transparent glass shelves inside. Hayama is available in one size or with polished lacquer in a wide range of colors. The work is a re-reading of the work of the architect Kazuhide Takahama, who industrialized the tradition of ancient varnishing, expressing a clear desire to go beyond rationalism by exploring the relationship with the past. Like sharp, subtle grooves that gracefully cut into the space, the basic lines of the Hayama come into the home with three new multi-function versions, a bar, a cabinet and a console, all bearing the unmistakable signature of Patricia Urquiola.
The Hayama is characterized by the same formal shaped like Haori, a traditional Japanese jacket worn over a kimono, which is a source of inspiration for the designer. In a play of bold geometries, these lacquered furniture stand out with the same distinctive features as the original sideboard presented in 2019: on the one hand, the emblematic structure with diagonal legs, and on the other, a tribute to the art of ancient lacquer that highlights Cassina's manufacturing excellence.
Three new models of the functional collection
The Hayama collection was developed with a new canneté effect door finish, which was added together with the smooth finish, further emphasizing the geometric contrast between the sloping lines and the verticality of the facade. Additionally, two new shades of varnish are available, powder and cream, which enhance the sophisticated aesthetics of the furniture, expanding the existing range of ten colors.
