Product description
Available with a rectangular or square top, the Kiki low table has a frame made of distinctive oval steel tubes. Available in a wide range of colors and finishes, the table evokes unforgettable simplicity. The Kiki low table is the perfect companion to the Kiki lounge chair, sofa and bench. The modular nature of the collection's elements can be combined into any number of configurations, and their small size means they naturally fit into smaller spaces. Announcing a departure from designer Ilmari Tapiovaara's previous work, Kiki employs a simple design idiom. The Kiki collection uses oval steel tubes as a framework combined with surfaces that have characteristic planes and contours with smooth edges. Kiki was designer Ilmari Tapiovaara's first series to feature a consistent system of matching pieces; the collection includes a stool, a bench, a small side table, a lounge chair and a sofa. The resulting look is iconic in its simplicity. The Kiki chair, presented at the Milan Triennale in 1960, won a gold medal. Legend has it that Tapiovaara was approached by a manufacturer, asking him to design a product that would use his surplus of metal tubing. True or not, Tapiovaara announced a departure from his previous work with the Kiki collection. Kiki is a mannequin that can be dressed up in many ways, travels effortlessly and takes on different personalities. Articles from the Kiki family can be combined in many configurations. Their compact size means they fit naturally into smaller spaces.
