Product description
The solid wood coffee table, extremely complex in terms of technology and at the same time very simple in terms of design, was created by Charlotte Perriand in 1969 for the Japanese embassy in Paris. The ideas for this table came from the impact on Perriand of seeing a colossal rock whose enormous weight had been undercut by wave erosion, making it smooth. Hence the thick top and concave edges, which emphasize the beauty and brighten the appearance. The contrast between the figurative impact and the rational perception of the real importance of the work makes it unique. Thanks to the meticulous manufacturing techniques used, the table is able to withstand the risk of warping that is the typical fate of wooden objects.
