Ess.tee.tisch is a height adjustable table designed by Jürg Bally in 1950. The name suggests Bally's linguistic wit, as the height adjustment transforms it from a dining table ("Ess-Tisch") to a coffee table ("Tee-Tischa"). The construction of this design classic is as simple as it is ingenious: the tabletop rests on three crossed legs connected by a movable pin. The 2014 reissue improved the self-locking lifting mechanism using a lever under the table top. Thanks to this, the table can be raised or lowered from 72 to 40 centimeters. Thanks to precise details and precise fit, this adjustment also works without the need to clean the countertop. The table top is covered with linoleum, the edge is made of solid wood, the central foot mounting is made of anthracite cast iron, and the adjustment mechanism is made of stainless steel.
