The distinguishing element is the trim that optically connects the chair with the table. The wide legs of the table are covered with leather, and each of the four corners facing outwards has carefully crafted piping. “Peace and quiet, a sofa and a cup of tea are everything”: the piece of furniture that inspired Theodor Fontane to create, in order to make this sincere statement about well-being, it must have had very specific characteristics. So it's good that Wittmann produces well-being furniture here and now that can easily evoke similar statements.
Models featuring highly efficient, state-of-the-art internal upholstery, made and layered using expertise based on traditional methods and skills. The casing that Sebastian Herkner gives to this high-quality core combines a similar combination of traditional and contemporary strengths: the shape of the chair and sofa evokes associations with classic armchairs and sofas.
Precise upholstery is placed over delicate, almost fragile-looking legs. In turn, the modern, economical shape and completely stable structure of the work - along with pleasantly consistent proportions - are the result of the complexity of knowledge and skills that translate into innovative design ideas. Ultimately, it's about a very emotional outcome: you sit down on Merwyn with a cup of tea in your hand, enjoy the peace and quiet, and think to yourself, "It doesn't get any better than this."
