Product description
With CORAIL, Roche Bobois has created a 3D-printed concrete base that is fully customizable. This innovative technique is a first in the world of furniture and will undoubtedly change the relationship between consumers and design. “Genetic Code” – The characteristics of the base are fed into a giant printer, a marvel of technology. In continuous movement from bottom to top, a digitally driven nozzle creates a concrete hose that hardens as each layer is added.
Another important innovation is online software that allows for design customization. It allows the client to choose the shape and size, apply weaving effects and watch the object live while it is being created. The client's "code" is sent directly to the 3D printer. In addition to personalization, this new process has potential ecological advantages. We will soon be able to send digital files to the United States or China and have the base produced there by a local printer using the same technology. This would reduce carbon emissions from transport. The inspiration for the Corail model was the beauty of natural imperfection. Its shape brings to mind mushrooms growing on trees, coral reefs or huge shells. Thanks to this amazing work, your imagination can run wild
