It's the magical time of the summer solstice here at Fiskars and we wanted to celebrate the nightless night by talking about a new product. The idea of the KONSTRUKTIO bench first came to Kari Virtanen's mind during his recent trips to Japan. He always worked. made of solid wood and aimed to combine the best possible combinations of traditional wooden joints with contemporary forms. For the KONSTRUKTIO bench, he wanted to develop a modern wooden connection; a simple, delicate solution that can be easily adapted to production.
The bench was designed together with textile designer Johanna Gullichsen, who worked on the seat upholstery and fabric details, in line with Kari Virtanen's philosophy of simplicity and functionality.‎ Soft but firm the seat upholstery is made of coconut fiber, wool and cotton. Johanna Gullichsen also created new, natural shades of the Triton fabric.
Materials: ash, birch, oak.
Surface finish: natural wood oil blend.
Optional seat cushion: Triton Moss upholstery fabric JGFC1001203 by Johanna Gullichsen, including coconut fiber straps and mattress.
