Inspired by the culture of public baths in Finland and Japan, Kiulu Bench embodies the sophistication and ability to create new archetypes for which designer Koichi Futatsumata is famous. Public baths, both as a social link and as a cleansing ritual, are deeply embedded in the cultural landscape of Finland and Japan, and this connection is treated as the designer's starting point. The cylindrical-shaped bucket, called Kiulu in Finnish, is traditionally used in public baths in both countries and is the source of the design of the Futatsumata bench. The Kiulu bench serves several functions - as a seat and basket, offering space to store items such as towels and cosmetics, magazines or toys. Embodying Futatsumata's care for materials and attention to detail, Kiulu Bench can be used in the dry environment of the bath/spa/wellness area and beyond. Part of Artek's FIN/JPN friendship collection, the Kiulu bench is offered in two sizes, manufactured in Finland and available worldwide.
