With its basic shapes and delicate, undulating sense of movement, Wave suggests a renewed, more conscious focus on the ritual of coming home. The project reinterprets the quintessential Asian piece of furniture: the shoe bench. Its humble function as a furnishing complement is refined and transformed into a welcoming element, suitable for decorating even the most refined interiors.
The microarchitecture, designed with simple, fluid forms, is produced in solid natural copper that plays with curves, volumes and empty spaces. A wave-shaped vertical wall made of perforated copper gives lightness to the shape and adds sophistication to the sculptural form, accompanying those who enter; the wavy shape serves to emphasize the presence of the "pocket emptying" plate, encouraging us to empty our pockets when we return home.
The top surface provides ample seating space when removing clothing, and the base provides storage space for bags and shoes.
/>Natural copper, devoid of surface treatment, becomes a living material that changes over time and acquires a range of shades caused by different rates of oxidation: it remains lighter in areas where there is more frequent contact, thus highlighting the routine of those who use it every day.
