Product description

The stoneware sculpture was created using Iwami-yaki pottery techniques from the Iwami region of Japan's Shimane Prefecture. The Iwami region is famous for the production of durable pottery.
Using Shinozukuri, a unique Iwami yaki pottery technique famous for the scale of the products, clay stretched into a string rope is stacked into circles, formed by craftsmen using their whole body while turning the potter's wheel . Shaping clay quickly and without hesitation requires great strength and skill.
Each stoneware sculpture gives a different expression and has a unique character and presence. A transparent glaze that reflects the color of the original clay, reveals the simplicity and texture of the material, and blends quietly into versatile spaces. Clay is semi-porcelain, having the characteristics of porcelain and ceramics. It is hard and resistant to moisture, suitable for outdoor use, e.g. in gardens and terraces.
