Product description

symbol of avant-garde design ideas and experimentation, Tulu is a chair with a stackable sled-shaped base, designed in 1968 by Kazuhide Takahama and commissioned by Simon Dino Gaviny, which was acquired by Cassina in 2013 and is now known as Simon International. The Tulu chair is an early example in which, rather than bending a metal tube to make a frame, a thin bar was electrically induction welded and then given a chrome finish. This innovation made it possible to obtain narrower curves, while also leading to the use of multiple welding heads, which allowed the component to be manufactured in a single process. When Simon International became part of the Cassina universe, the Tulu production process was re-examined and further streamlined. The seat and backrest have now been reinforced with the addition of elastic straps, and the padded cover has a zipper so it can be removed for cleaning. This chair has now been completely rebuilt and further improved by strengthening the seat with a thermoformed seat and backrest with elastic straps, as well as adding a cotton wool cover and a zipper allowing removal of the upholstery.
CONSTRUCTION Bent metal tube frame with a chrome or painted finish.
/>SEAT AND BACKREST WITH elastic band.
DETAILS Cover with strip and zipper enabling removal of the upholstery.
