highlight of the Cassina catalog since 1957, Superleggera represents the perfect combination of the creative imagination of architect Gio Ponti and the manufacturing excellence of Cassina, an undisputed icon that is both current and pays homage to traditional craftsmanship. The Superleggera demonstrates the construction skills of the MedaMade craftsmen: the challenge they faced of creating an exceptionally light chair was overcome thanks to the Superleggera's legs with a cross-section of only eighteen millimeters, and the whole thing weighed only 1,700 grams!
While the frame takes advantage of the natural lightness and flexibility of ash wood, the seat frame is made of beech, which is finer grained and stronger. The wooden parts are created by machine and finished by hand, the glue is applied with a brush, the excess is wiped off and the seat is hand-woven. In this way, craftsmanship and industrial innovation come together in what we might call a "masterpiece", inspired by the chair-making traditions of Chiavari in Liguria in northern Italy. Superleggera is available in both a classic version, with colorful legs, and with a padded seat.

. frame in natural ash wood, white or black stained ash with open pores, with a padded seat, fabric or leather upholstery;
. frame in two-tone ash wood lacquered white/black with a padded seat, upholstered only in white or black leather.
