Product description
“It was a new type of chair, constructed entirely of leather, and has since been largely cloned.” This is how Mario Bellini describes Cab, a bestseller designed in the 1970s, which is now the showcase of the Cassina I Contemporanei collection. Cab was the first-ever chair with a free-standing leather structure, inspired by the way our skin adapts to the skeleton. The upholstery consists of sixteen pieces of saddle leather. They are cut individually and then subjected to fourteen discreet treatments, also by hand. The pieces are only sewn together once their outer edges have been trimmed to ensure a perfect fit. Once folded, the cover is attached to the steel frame of the chair and held in place with a zipper, as with made-to-measure clothing. The cabin is available in a wide range of colors. Chair with enameled steel frame. Leather upholstery fastened with a zipper over the frame. The seat is padded with polyurethane foam.
