Product description
This swivel chair is a modification of the Fauteuil Tournant, which had a tubular metal frame and was created by Charlotte Perriand in 1927. It was later exhibited along with other furniture that Perriand had designed with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret for the Salon d'Automne in Paris in 1929. The original design was made in Vietnam in 1943, using materials and craft techniques available during the war. The first model had three legs, and the fourth was added later. This work reflects the designer's flexible and resourceful approach: she often adapted her designs to the availability of materials and the location where the production was to take place. Cassina has re-released Indochine with full respect for the original design, interpreting it and using a solid wood base that highlights the excellence of the company's craftsmen's woodworking skills.
