Product description

Violon is a pouffe with a fabric or leather cover (non-removable). Paolo Rizzatto was inspired by Man Ray's "Le violon d'Ingres" (1924), one of the most iconic paintings in the history of art. The violin holes painted by the artist on the back of model Kiki de Montparnasse transform her body into a musical instrument and play with the idea of objectifying the animated body. An image showing a bold juxtaposition of a female body with a viola, whose rounded silhouette refers to its forms.
Alias expands its proposal with an elegant lounge chair, whose shapes are the result of a long process of synthesis of forms, technologies and materials. The project was born around the idea of using a soft and structural material, leather, technologically improved by Alias. The violin shell, both the structure and the seat, are constructed in such a way that they can be deformed flexibly and then return to their original form, surrounding those who sit down in an "embrace". A chair of extraordinary comfort, designed specifically for relaxation both at home and in recreation rooms.
The design comes from Paolo Rizzatto's idea of using two-dimensional shapes that, when bent, create an ergonomic and light 3D geometry. Recognizing hide as the ideal material, Alias goes further by developing a combination of leather and thermoformed plastic, thus obtaining a resistant and flexible surface capable of producing a very comfortable seat.
Violon is available in two versions. The first one is characterized by a thermoformed shell connected to the leather using traditional techniques. This version is complemented by two pillows. This armchair is the perfect blend between the craft world and the industrial product, carefully balancing the contributions of both. The second version, violon soft, has an upholstered shell completely covered with fabric or leather. The zipper running along the side profile is hidden in the upholstery and allows you to remove the upholstery from the seat. In both variants, the violin body pivots on a 4-spoke cast aluminum base which has a basic design and is offered in the Alias color range.
